There's always a veritable feast of new ideas, new passions and new interests when we Huffingtons get together. Between us, we’re constantly prowling the internet for any kind of art, interior design, fashion, travel or food; pouring through every shelter magazine known to mankind; and yes, even taking ourselves off to see a new French movie (or a mainstream blockbuster.) Our little “hooked on” obsessions come and go like the wind, but we got to thinking that we should share our latest crazes.
Ann:
- Salted caramel flavored macaroons from Dalloyau, Paris – Mmmm good
- Edith Mezard Black Tea scented candles – OK, I admit that it’s self-serving since we sell them at the gallery, but the truth is that we sell them because we are all hooked on them!!
- Betty Londergan’s http://whatgives365.wordpress.com/ : witty, touching, honest and makes you feel good every day.
- Hermes scarves – always have been, always will be hooked on these
- Chicken salad with walnuts from the Café at Pharr: We’re all hooked and we have it every single day!
- Beltrami sheets – the softest, silkiest sheets I’ve ever slept in
- Air France. Would someone from Air France please just read my last blog!
- New York and Paris real estate listings. A girl’s gotta dream.
- My teenage girls. Shhh … don’t tell them.
Meg:
- Atlanta’s glorious spring that finally arrived - and the way my little garden is growing so quickly I can almost hear it.
- Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles magazine – they make it all look so stylish, hip and effortless.
- Anything from Gramercy, the ultra cool bedding boutique at Peachtree Battle (right now, I’m picturing doing my bed in beige linen with Hermes-orange accents…and Cam and Jenny are the ones to make it happen)
- Scott’s Antique Market – a veritable mother lode of treasures, held the second weekend of every month. You never know what you’ll find, which is all the fun.
- Figs and goat cheese, drizzled with olive oil, salt and pepper...yummy.
- I'm REALLY hooked on Lunch in Paris by Elizabeth Bard. It's charming, extremely well-written and filled with easy and tres francais recipes. If you've ever dreamed of falling in love, marrying a French man and living in the City of Lights, this book is for you.
- Things that Inspire blog – Holly Street’s amazing personal style is truly a wonder. Her in-depth posts about the Atlanta design scene are an excellent resource for everyone.
- the secret “hooked-on” that Linda and I share (but don’t pass it around): The Housewives of NYC (we know, we know, trashy TV at its' best - or worst.)
Linda:
- Lilacs! For 2 sweet weeks a year, I am taken back to my childhood in Cleveland, Ohio. The scent of a vaseful of lilacs is like no other.
- Blanc: the light, fresh and elegant perfume/room spray from the gallery’s style icon, Edith Mezard.
- Red wine and chocolate (at the same time, or not!)
- My two sweet but often smelly teenage boys who can make me laugh and cry at the same time
- Velvet & Linen blog – Brooke Giannetti has a great eye for style and design – a wonderful inspiration to us all.
- (another secret “hooked-on” but don’t tell anyone: The Young and Restless)
Sam:
French Movies - (even the bad one are good...no plot? No problem!)
- Tiramisu - Italian Crack
- Human Target - a Fox television show that makes Bond look like a sissy!
- House Beautiful - Stephen Drucker's gift to design lovers. Can't wait to see his positive input as the new editor of Town & Country.
We blogged about our Nasri painting being featured in Jill Brinson's home - it made the cover!
- Cote de Texas Blog - Joni Webb's love letters to the design world.
- Art Galleries - I think Atlanta has the best and broadest selection of art in the United States. Yes, that includes NYC. An hour in an art gallery is cheaper and better than therapy.

Sarah:
- Irving Farm’s Sinful Delight coffee - my best find while living in NYC. I order it online so I can enjoy a cup every morning & transport myself back to the West Village.
- Charleston, SC - my father’s hometown, one of the most charming cities in the U.S. and the topic of my Master’s thesis. Hard to believe that in 5 hours you can travel from Atlanta to this cultural oasis. Fabulous restaurants, shopping and art!
- Baubles from Meg Carter and KEP Designs. The perfect gift for a girlfriend..or yourself.
- Iomoi paper products – the perfect way to send an old-fashioned “bonjour”. They also make amazing lucite trays, address labels, paperweights, & custom matches.
- Therapy in the form of browsing Etsy.com or my local Target. I can always find a little something special to brighten my day.
- Blogs, blog, and more blogs! One of my favorites is Mrs. Howard Personal Shopper – the blog that accompanies Phoebe Howard’s fabulous home stores: Mrs Howard and Max & Co.
What are you hooked on? Let us know!
Ta ta!
The Huffingtons
You are speaking to my heart. I came home from Paris last summer and I will never be the same. What I cannot live without are Almond Macaroons. I ate them in Provence as well. Wonderful. I've tried a couple of recipes, and Martha Stewarts is the closest to genuin French Macaroons.
ReplyDeleteI've been painting Provence now for months. The lavendar, poppies and my favorite, waterlilies from Monet's Garden.
Large paintings that need a home....
Next, Paris streets, cafes and gardens. I'm hooked on that too. I guess you could say I'm hooked on painting France...what is better than that?
Scott's, for sure. I slipped out of work early to go today. Estate sales. I just found a really cute French chair for $100 that I recently saw on Bennett Street for $500. Blogs, Blogs, Blogs. Joni and Brooke are favorites, and it's so much fun to find new beautiful sites. There are so many creative bloggers. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh dear...another blog to love! Just found you via Cote de Texas. Hooked on antique textiles, old roses, mechanical pencils, excellent coffee. Merci! Trish
